RIO: minimizing user interaction in debugging of aligned ontologies

چکیده
Efficient ontology debugging is a cornerstone for many activities in the context of the Semantic Web, especially when automatic tools produce (parts of) ontologies such as in the field of ontology matching. The best currently known interactive debugging systems rely upon meta information in terms of fault probabilities, which can speed up the debugging procedure in the good case, but can also have negative impact in the bad case. Unfortunately, assessment of meta information is only possible a-posteriori. Hence, as long as the actual fault is unknown, there is always some risk of suboptimal interactive diagnoses discrimination. As an alternative, one might prefer to rely on a no-risk strategy. In this case, however, possibly well-chosen meta information cannot be exploited, resulting again in inefficient debugging actions. In this work we present a reinforcement learning strategy that continuously adapts its behavior depending on the performance achieved and minimizes the risk of using low-quality meta information. Therefore, this method is suitable for application scenarios where reliable a-priori fault estimates are difficult to obtain. Using faulty ontologies produced by ontology matchers, we show that the proposed strategy outperforms both active learning and no-risk approaches on average w.r.t. required amount of user interaction.

RIO: Minimizing User Interaction in Ontology Debugging
Interactive ontology debugging incorporates a user who answers queries about entailments of their intended ontology. In order to minimize the amount of user interaction in a debugging session, a user must choose an appropriate query selection strategy. However, the choice of an unsuitable strategy may result in tremendous overhead in terms of time and cost. We present a learning method for quer...

The best currently known interactive debugging systems rely upon some meta-information in terms of fault probabilities in order to improve their efficiency. However, misleading meta information might result in a dramatic decrease of the performance and its assessment is only possible aposteriori. Consequently, as long as the actual fault is unknown, there is always some risk of suboptimal inter...
متن کاملRIO: The Regularities Inspector for Ontologies Plugin for Protégé-4
Syntactic regularities are repetitive structures of axioms in the asserted form of an ontology. In this paper, we present a Protégé4 plugin based on the RIO (Regularities Inspector for Ontologies) framework, which detects such regularities in ontologies using cluster analysis. The RIO plugin is an open source tool for visualising syntactic regularities in ontologies; the user can load them in P...
متن کاملInteractive ontology debugging: Two query strategies for efficient fault localization☆
Effective debugging of ontologies is an important prerequisite for their broad application, especially in areas that rely on everyday users to create and maintain knowledge bases, such as the Semantic Web. In such systems ontologies capture formalized vocabularies of terms shared by its users. However in many cases users have different local views of the domain, i.e. of the context in which a g...
متن کاملLemmas for Justifications in OWL
Over the past few years there has been a significant amount of interest in the area of debugging and repairing of OWL ontologies. The process of debugging an ontology is necessary in the same way that debugging programme code is necessary – that is, debugging takes place in order to eradicate faults. In terms of ontology debugging, the faults manifest themselves as undesirable entailments. In p...
